Due to time and budget constraints structural engineers performing traditional design for blast, progressive collapse, and impact have been limited by prescriptive code requirements and design tools to that look at simplified structural components.  The result has been the need to use factors of safety to make up for the simplification to ensure structural integrity. This causes over-designed, more expensive structures.

With ASI’s Extreme Loading for Structures (ELS) software, ASI engineers are capable of studying the whole structure together as a complete structural system (walls, floors, columns, beams, foundations, etc.) in full 3D .  The result is an overall reduction in material required to meet project requirements, and cost savings that is passed along to the customer.

Blast Analysis

Protective Design Services:

  • Progressive Collapse Design: ASI engineers will create a 3-D model of your structure including structural and critical non-structural components apply loading to key areas based on the structures occupancy type. Results will include 3-D videos of the analysis and a report assessing the structures integrity, a determination of risk zones and recommendations for hardening if necessary.
  • Blast Design: ASI engineers will create a 3-D model of your structure including structural and critical non-structural components and apply a time-history blast load. Results will include 3-D videos of the analysis and a report assessing debris velocity and dispersion as well as a determination of risk zones and recommendations for redesign if necessary.
  • Projectile Impact Analysis: ASI engineers will create a 3-D model of your structure including structural and critical non-structural components and an approximate size/shaped projectile will be directed at key locations of the structure. Results will include 3-D videos of the analysis and a report assessing the structures integrity, a determination of risk zones and recommendations for hardening if necessary.
