ELS Training for Engineers

This course will include: engineering and building code training on collapse, progressive collapse, blast, seismic, and other extreme loading applications; ELS software orientation; and scenario development in the form of a practical exercise involving multiple structures. This is a four day course for engineers and others responsible for modeling or simulating structural integrity.

Students are invited to bring their own first project to discuss and begin work.
 (Course: 4 day, $2,500)

Course Description

Applications & Theory Presentation

The Theory & Applications Presentation will include information about AEM and how it allows ELS to be used for applications such as Earthquake, Blast and Progressive.

Live Demonstration

The Live Demo will give users a basic understanding of using ELS, including modeling, applying loads and scenarios, running analysis, viewing results, and creating charts in the viewer.
ELS Software Orientation and Training

Introduces ELS software and includes an overview of  the Applied Element Method (AEM), and collapse, progressive collapse, blast, seismic, and other extreme loading applications.  The course will discuss how ELS is applicable to current design criteria as well as advanced analysis.  Participants will gain a working knowledge of ELS software including its advantageous and unique features.

Hands-on Modeling and Simulation

Throughout this seminar the structural engineer will gain practical experience via the development of models.  Multiple scenarios will be simulated during a practical exercise centered on design codes as well as extreme loads.

Starting An ELS Project

During this four day course, engineers and others responsible for modeling and structural analysis will be able to effectively use ELS on their own projects. Participants are invited to bring their own project to discuss and begin work.

License Agreement

Upon the successful completion of this course, those enrolled will be eligible to license the software.  This will include a 90 day period for non-commercial use to allow for an interval of familiarity prior to committing to a one year license.

What makes ELS Training for Engineers Unique
  • Participants will be able to use ELS to perform advanced structural analysis without the need for complicated research based software.
  • ELS introduces a new structural engineering technology that generates unprecedented visualizations of extreme loads and their outcome.
  • ELS is taught by the engineers and experts who have been integral in its development.
  • ELS produces structural analysis results that augment new vulnerability assessment processes for homeland defense applications.
Benefits
  • Engineers will be equipped to perform structural simulations using an advanced engineering tool on their own personal computer so as to aid decision makers during periods of structural analysis and vulnerability assessment.
  • Participants gain valuable hands-on experience using ELS software.
  • Those enrolled learn new vulnerability assessment applications for structures.
