Masonry StructuresMasonry structures provide a unique set of challenges for structural engineers because engineering assumptions work best with homogeneous isotropic materials. But masonry structures create a problem with these assumptions as they are composed of two or more different materials ELS's Applied Element Formulation allows engineers to accurately analyze masonry structures, taking into account both the masonry blocks as well as the mortar that binds them together. In addition to mortar and masonry units, ELS can also provide more accurate results by accounting for reinforcement material integral to the strength of structure such as rebar, thereby helping engineers design safer, more efficient structures.
