Deconstruction Simulation

Video of the Deconstruction Simulation

Changes in stress & displacement
due to moving load
Changes in internal force
due to moving load

Description

  • Simple concrete structure
  • Floors deconstructed simultaneously with heavy equipment loading the structure

Modeling

  • Bobcat modeled as a moving load
  • Structural elements removed in the same sequence as specified by contractor

Deconstruction Simulation

  • Changes in the structural behavior due to the sequential removal of supporting elements and the moving bobcat are simulated
  • Changes in internal forces, stresses and displacement of the structure are shown

Result

Using this information, demolition contractors can determine which equipment to use and the best sequence of demolition to follow.
