AEM Breakthrough

Applied Element Method (AEM) is the only method which can accurately analyze, track and visualize structural behavior through the three stages of loading:

  • Small Displacement
    • Elastic
    • Nonlinear
  • Large Displacement
    • Geometric & Material Change
    • Element Separation
  • Collision and Collapse

AEM, because it uses a true analysis of structural behavior, can automatically detect the initiation of cracks, track their progression throughout the structure and simulate actual element separation, collision, and final collapse.

AEM was born at the University of Tokyo as part of Prof. Hatem Tageldin's research studies on analyzing and visualizing the responses of structures to extreme loading conditions during earthquakes.

Because research and validation of AEM has been an on-going project since 1995, many validation tests have been conducted and research papers published to introduce the Applied Element Method's breakthroughs:

  • Auto-Element Separation
  • Auto-Element Contact Detection
  • Realistic Element Modeling
  • Simplified Super-Element Meshing

AEM is currently utilized in numerous industries where the analysis and visualization of structures under extreme loading conditions is vital:
